Horizon Festival connects, disrupts and delights through arts, culture and creativity.
Over 10 arts-fueled days across the Sunshine Coast, Horizon Festival collaborated across communities to deliver more than 200 events in visual art, film, literature, performance, street art, comedy, music, theatre and new media.
As the signature multi-arts festival for the region, and only in it’s second year, Horizon curated a program of events celebrating local artists alongside Australian and international guests.
Horizon provided a platform for collaboration and artistic expression, developed emerging and experimental works, and encouraged projects that foster growth and leave a legacy for the region.

Architects of Air Arboria luminarium
A highlight of the 2017 Horizon program, and for the first time in regional Australia, the internationally acclaimed Architects of Air brought the Arboria luminarium to the Sunshine Coast. The Architects of Air’s Arboria luminarium was a walk-in sculpture dedicated to trees and attempted to generate a sense of wonder at the beauty of light and colour.
Through labyrinthine tunnels and cavernous domes, you moved through a changing world of colour. Vivid splashes and reflections spilled across the curved walls, creating an experience apart from the normal and every day.
Art Street Eumundi
Eumundi hosted a jam-packed weekend of events including the mind-blowing wearable art competition as seen in the gallery above. Over the course of three days, Eumundi also hosted a Theatre of Life Artisty with Bob Gammage live-painting all the events from his easel. The mob at Deadly Espresso held Indigenous workshops, the grey tunnel in Dick Caplick Park was transformed into a colourful mural and music, food and labyrinths filled the town’s streets.
